Mr. McKiernan is an experienced lawyer who admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. His practice focuses on complex litigation involving high-value business litigation and serious personal injuries including those involving medical negligence.
Mr. McKiernan is a lifelong Rhode Islander. He grew up in Warwick and attended Boston College (B.A., Economics, 1988) and Boston College Law School (J.D., 1991). Since becoming a lawyer, Mr. McKiernan has had varied and interesting professional experiences. He was a law clerk for Rhode Island State Superior Court, he was staff counsel for a national insurance company, and he worked for large firms before opening his own office in 2001.
Mr. McKiernan brings to bear a lifelong understanding of Rhode Island and its people. He was a commercial shell fisherman as he helped pay his way through college and law school. He was a Representative to the Rhode Island General Assembly for six (6) years. He has served as a justice on the Providence Municipal Court for many years. He has served as a lector at his church, an ice hockey coach, a Little League coach, and a soccer coach within his community. He has provided lectures to members of the Rhode Island bar on issues involving insurance coverage and uninsured motorist coverage, as well as maritime torts. He provided civic lectures to members of the public on the U.S. Constitution.
Dan’s past clients have included insurance companies, closely held entities, professional corporations, and shareholders. He has represented businesses in a number of different courts He represents both plaintiffs and defendants. He has tried cases in the United States District Court, and various Rhode Island and Massachusetts state courts. He has successfully conducted numerous jury trials in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
His stable of current and former business clients includes seriously injured individuals and businesses in a variety of sectors. He has restaurants and pubs, maritime service providers, landowners and developers, contractors, doctors, health care providers, local banks, entrepreneurs, factories, and supply houses.
